Aquatic Therapy

Kids In Motion has the only private pediatric aquatic therapy center in the Bismarck Mandan Area.  We believe having the right environment, therapeutic temperatures, with skilled and certified clinicians is important to the aquatic environment and therapeutic intervention.

Buoyancy Boosts Confidence: In our aquatic haven, children float and move

against water's buoyancy, unlocking newfound freedom and promoting balance,

coordination, and spatial awareness. The weightless environment encourages

exploration, fostering confidence and skill development.

Resistance: The Gentle Path to Strength: Harnessing the water's resistance,

our therapy sessions build strength effectively and gently. For kids with motor

coordination concerns, this aspect of aquatic therapy enhances muscle tone,

laying the foundation for improved coordination and motor skills.

Sensory Stimulation and Integration: Engaging multiple senses simultaneously,

the aquatic environment provides rich sensory experiences. From tactile feedback

to dynamic visual stimuli, sensory integration in the pool contributes to improved motor planning, execution, and overall sensory processing.

Tailored Activities for Holistic Development: Our skilled therapists craft sessions that cater to each child's unique needs, using structured exercises and playful activities. In the pool, children not only address motor coordination, strength, and sensory needs but also enhance social interaction, communication, and teamwork, laying the groundwork for comprehensive life skills.

Unveiling Motor Skills Mastery: Aquatic therapy offers a dynamic platform where traditional land-based exercises may fall short. In the buoyant embrace of water, children engage in activities that challenge and refine motor skills, fostering a level of mastery difficult to achieve on solid ground.

Fine-Tuning Precision in Movement: Water's resistance becomes a gentle guide for refining precision in movement. In the aquatic realm, children work against resistance, honing fine motor skills with activities that promote dexterity, coordination, and control. These nuanced movements lay the groundwork for improved functional skills in daily life.

Spatial Awareness and Coordination: The weightless environment of the pool allows children to explore space with newfound freedom. Activities that challenge spatial awareness and coordination become not just therapeutic exercises but exciting adventures, fostering a greater understanding of body positioning and movement in three-dimensional space.

Balance Beyond Limits: Balancing on land can be challenging, but in the water, it becomes an engaging and supportive endeavor. Aquatic therapy sessions incorporate activities that enhance core stability and balance, crucial for mastering motor skills and promoting confidence in daily activities.

Crossover Movements and Bilateral Coordination: The fluid nature of water encourages natural movements that challenge bilateral coordination. Aquatic therapy becomes a playground for activities that require coordination between both sides of the body, facilitating the development of bilateral skills essential for activities like crawling, walking, and hand-eye coordination.
